Our Curriculum
Playful Learning, Interactions and Holistic Development Children interact with the world with their whole self engaging their minds, bodies, senses and emotions. When we look at the child’s development as a whole, where all parts of the mind and body affect each other, we call it “holistic development.”
A holistic view of development and learning aims to see the whole child the whole day and leads the way to mastery and self-efficacy.
Research into the development of brain architecture affirms that all areas of development are intertwined in a child’s brains and behaviors. (Harvard University, 2015) Therefore, at the B-Smart Learning Center, we facilitate learning experiences that ensure children are using their minds, bodies, senses, and emotions in social interactions with others.
We create opportunities for them to seek, wonder, explore, and learn in a flexible and adaptable physical environment that allows them to develop in all areas.
Play Based Approach
Play and learning should be closely linked, as children look for meaning in everything they do and express themselves through play.
Playful learning should be fun! At B-Smart Learning Center, we create an arena where play and learning are fun. Children are naturally curious and learn by using their entire body and all their senses. Together, we explore and play our way to new knowledge. Children’s exploration and wonder lay the foundation for lifelong learning.
Children’s natural curiosity turns them into little scientists who might teach us a thing or three. When children wonder and explore, they learn how to learn.
Young children are, by nature, wondering individuals. They have an inborn drive to figure out their surroundings. At the same time, they need their carers to share their curiosity, allow time and space to wonder, leading the way to new and exciting knowledge. (Drugli, 2019)
Holistic Approach
Young children exhibit a strong drive for mastery and independence and need to be shown support and respect. The joy of reaching for goals, succeeding at new things, and mastering challenges form a beneficial, foundational structure for life.
At the B-Smart Learning Center, every child will experience the joy of mastery every day!
The children practice, try, and master their own pace in interaction with good friends and warm adults.
We aim to enable children having good experiences and enjoy feeling capable in every way. They will have opportunities to practice, try and manage at their own pace.
The children at B-Smart Learning Center are active participants in their learning processes and the Joy of mastery is a powerful source for learning It is the process that matters, and the process creates resilience and commitment. Self-efficacy, children’s faith in their own ability to master challenges and overcome adversity, is highly important in this process, and their ability to endure difficulty.
At B-Smart Learning Center the children will learn how to learn, not only what to learn, which is essential for the children’s future success and growth. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”. Children learn by being an active participant in their own learning journey, together with others, and this is what B-Smart Learning Center’s pedagogy is all about.
Interactive Approach
We believe that children need to interact with others to thrive, learn and develop. Through good interactions, we learn together.
We need one another to learn. Through interplay, children find solutions together, learn to listen to and understand others, make their opinions heard, and safely express their needs and wishes.
Children must be surrounded by adults who affirm them and support the shaping of their identity and positive self-image. They will be cultivating their personal traits in a safe and nurturing environment, aligned with relations that inspire good interaction.
Interaction with others is essential for children’s well-being, learning and development. At B-Smart Learning Center, the children experience warm and caring adults who create a safe connection, support exploration, and invite a good interaction.
Enrichment Program
Beyond the base curriculum, we implement our proprietary ‘Pathways to Excellence’ framework which outlines our specialized methodology and learning outcomes in the following core areas:
- Reading & Writing
- Math
- Languages
- Art
- Physical Education
- Social Development
We developed this framework to inspire a love of learning and especially, to stretch and challenge our children. We simply harness children’s innate desire to learn in these areas through personalized attention and we provide planned opportunities, unstructured play, and guidance to develop intellectual, physical, and social excellence within each child.
Outdoor & Indoor Field Trips
Our program offers a multitude of indoor and outdoor field trips throughout the year. These experiences are carefully curated to provide enriching and engaging opportunities for the children beyond the confines of our center. Whether it’s exploring local museums, nature reserves, or cultural landmarks, our aim is to offer diverse experiences that foster curiosity, learning, and fun.
Indoor field trips allow children to delve into different realms of knowledge inside the classroom! Zoo 2u Reptile Zoo, Joe Show, e2 Young Engineers, and Cindy House Puppet Show are a few of the many indoor field trips we plan throughout the year. These events not only broaden the children’s understanding of the world but also inspire creativity and critical thinking.
On the other hand, outdoor field trips immerse children in the wonders of nature and the community around them. From picnics in the park to walks along scenic trails, these excursions encourage physical activity, appreciation for the environment, and social interaction with peers.
We understand the importance of these experiences in shaping well-rounded individuals, which is why we strive to incorporate them into our program regularly. Rest assured, every field trip is supervised by our experienced staff members to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
We encourage families to stay informed about upcoming field trips and actively participate in this aspect of the child’s learning journey. Together, we can create memorable experiences that contribute to the growth and development of each child in meaningful ways.
